One assessment. Three audiences. Individual insight at scale.
CoreDrive measures the core motivational drives that shape how people think, act, and engage. Each person receives a personalized Drive Archetype profile.

CoreDrive for Students
Uncovers what drives each student’s engagement so your interventions can land. Built for at-risk, continuation, alternative, and comprehensive settings.

CoreDrive for Educators
Reveals each team member’s motivational identity, so leaders can build trust, reduce friction, and strengthen collaboration where it counts.

CoreDrive for Families
Gives families the language to understand why their students learn and behave the way they do. Turn parents into informed partners.
Motivation science, not opinion.
CoreDrive builds on established motivation science, specifically The Behavioral Neuroscience of Motivation and the Science of Culture, Values, and Behavior that is empirically derived research into what drives human behavior, adapted for the realities of K–12 education. This isn't a personality quiz or a survey. It's a structured assessment developed through research and field validation by a team of California educators.
From assessment to action.

Developed by educators. Validated by research. Proven in California schools.
CoreDrive is currently in use at Ortega High School, a 2026 California Model Continuation High School in Lake Elsinore USD, serving a population that traditional tools overlook.
Designed to align with your funding priorities.
CoreDrive was built for California schools from the start. Assessment data maps directly to LCFF State Priorities and provides actionable insight that districts need.
Student Engagement
Attendance rates, chronic absenteeism, dropout rates, graduation rates. CoreDrive gives you the “why” behind each of these metrics.
School Climate
Suspension rates, expulsion rates, and surveys on safety and connectedness. CoreDrive moves beyond school-wide climate scores to individual motivational drivers.
Parental Involvement
CoreDrive for Families equips parents with the insight to become partners in engagement, not just visitors at back-to-school night.
Districts typically fund CoreDrive through LCAP, Title I-A, Title II-A, or Title IV-A. Designed with ESSA evidence standards in mind.
Questions we hear most.
How long does the assessment take?
15–20 minutes per student. Designed to fit within a single class period with time for instructions and transitions.
How is this different from a climate survey or SEL assessment?
Climate surveys measure sentiment at a group level. CoreDrive measures individual motivation at the student level, giving you specific insight, not aggregate trends.
What are Drive Archetypes?
Drive Archetypes are 17 research-derived motivational profiles that predict engagement, collaboration style, and the “why” behind behavior. Each person receives their unique archetype after completing the assessment.
Is there research behind this?
Yes. CoreDrive is built on established motivation science, not personality typing. Its foundation is the work of The Behavioral Neuroscience of Motivation and the Science of Culture, Values, and Behavior. The foundation maps the basic desires that drive human behavior, making it one of the few motivational frameworks to be empirically derived and independently validated. We adapted that science for the realities of K–12, and specifically for the students continuation and alternative schools serve.
How does CoreDrive align with California funding requirements?
CoreDrive is designed to support LCAP-aligned goals around student engagement, attendance, and social-emotional learning. Districts typically fund it through LCAP, Title I-A, Title II-A, or Title IV-A.
What does implementation look like?
Minimal lift. The assessment is self-administered and the dashboard is intuitive. We provide onboarding support and training materials for your team.
Is this only for continuation schools?
No. While CoreDrive was built with continuation and alternative schools in mind, it works for any setting where engagement is a priority—including comprehensive high schools and middle schools.
